3. The Mandy Foundation Launches "Every Second Counts" for National Suicide Prevention Month

With the beginning of September bringing National Suicide Prevention Month, the Arkansas-based Mandy Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Behavioral Health introduced a new campaign. The "Every Second Counts" campaign aims to utilize fundraising efforts to establish the TMF Crisis Line. Joshua Sisco, the executive director of the Mandy Foundation, stated "Our overall goal is to break the stigma that surrounds not only suicide but mental health, to shape hope and to ultimately help in suicide." 4. Turkish Bear Goes Viral After Eating Too Much Fruit and Being Hospitalized

Videos of a 200 pound bear began to circle the internet after individuals spotted the bear being taken into a facility on a stretcher. This was Okan the Bear's second time suffering from pain after eating too much fruit, as the first occurrence was during 2022. Okan was taken to Istanbul University’s Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Veterinary Medicine after signs of abdominal pain began to show. After CT scans, blood samples, an MRI, and rehabilitation, Okan was released back to his home at the local wildlife park. (CNN)

5. Train Hits Double-Decker Bus in Atlacomulco, Mexico

On September 8, a Double-Decker Bus was hit by an incoming train as the bus crossed the tracks. According to video footage, the railroad gates were not lowered prior to the incoming train. An estimate of eight people were killed by the accident. Officials are currently investigating the scene. (NBC)

6. "The Office" actor Oscar Nuñez Returns in a New Spinoff Series

Oscar Nuñez, most well known for his role as Oscar Martinez in the mockumentary show "The Office", is set to star in the new spinoff series "The Paper". "The Paper" follows Oscar as he continues to work in a paper company, this time in Toledo, Ohio instead of Scranton, Pennsylvania. "The Paper" premiered on September 4, 2025 and can be watched on the streaming service Peacock. (NBC)

7. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Announce Engagement

Taylor Swift announced that she had officially gotten engaged to Travis Kelce on August 26 with the news immediately going viral. The pair first began to interact after Kelce attempted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at her Eras Tour performance in Kansas City, Missouri during 2023. Since then, Swift has consistently shown up to all of the Chiefs football games in order to watch Kelce play, even flying from Tokyo to watch him play in the 2024 Super Bowl. After more than a year of fan speculation that certain songs on Swift's most recent album "The Tortured Poets Department" were about Kelce, Taylor finally confirmed the rumors with engagement pictures and the caption "Your English Teacher and your gym teacher are getting married." 8. Car Crash in Napa County, California Causes Six Deaths

The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating a car crash that occurred in Napa County, California. A Toyota Sienna minivan carrying several people was headed down Pope Valley Road and hit a tree. Officials are still unsure of what caused the driver to swerve off of the road. The crash occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, leaving six individuals dead. The driver and one passenger were airlifted to a local trauma center with severe injuries, and the driver was placed under arrest on charges of DUI. (NBC)

9. Team Cherry Releases Sequel to Hollow Knight

After six years of anticipation, Team Cherry, the creators of the popular video game Hollow Knight, released its sequel Silksong. Team Cherry released Hollow Knight during 2018 to major success, selling over 15 million copies. Not long after the original game's success, Team Cherry announced the sequel. Unfortunately, several years went by without any new information from Team Cherry on Silksong's development. This led to varied speculation and even running jokes about the game never being completed. However, after a game development period of about six years, Team Cherry's three members have finally released the game, much to fans' delight. (NPR)

10. Gen Z Protests Break Out in Nepal

Several protests have broken out in Nepal, beginning September 8, 2025. These mass protests are composed of Generation Z citizens and have proven to be deadly. So far, over 200 citizens have been hospitalized with 19 people confirmed dead. Several factors have contributed to the increasing turmoil among younger generations in Nepal. On September 4, several social media platforms were banned which caused many people to claim that it is an infringement on free speech. There has also been rising controversy regarding children of rich citizens and high ranking officials, with many protestors calling out against the corruption in the Nepal government. Over the 48 hours since the protests erupted, homes of government officials, the parliament building, and the supreme court have been attacked and set on fire. Among the chaos, the prime minister of Nepal resigned from his position. (NPR)

11. Ouachita County Fair Comes to Camden

The Ouachita County Fair will take place from September 10 to 13 at the Camden Sportsplex at Fairview Park. The fair's theme for this year is "Back to the Farm" and includes several family-friendly activities. Events range from the Livestock Premium Sale on Friday to the Old Timers Livestock Show. All entry fees will be utilized for the Ouachita County Fair scholarship fund. (Camden News)

12. Apple Unveils iPhone 17 

On September 9, Apple provided viewers with a look at the upcoming models of iPhone. The models are iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max. The iPhone Air, Apple's newest creation, features a much slimmer body than a regular iPhone. Prices reange from $799 to $1,119. These iPhones are available for preorder and will be available for purchase on September 19, 2025. (ABC)

13. Second Annual 9/11 Stair Climb Takes Place in Dickey-Stephens Park

On Sunday September 7, first responders and their families gathered in Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock for the second annual stair climb in memory of the tragic events of 9/11. All participants climbed stairs in the park to represent the flights of stairs that the 343 first responders climbed on September 1, 2001. The stair climb took approximately one hours to complete with all of the participants walking in the afternoon heat. (KATV)

14. NATO Prepares as Russian Forces Near Poland-Ukraine Border

Early in the morning on September 10, Russia began a widespread attack on Ukraine, reaching close to the border between Russia and Poland. Due to the conflict rising near the border, multiple Polish airports have been closed due to the military activity. Russian missiles were reported as hitting the main government building in Kyiv, Ukraine. Other reports have been made of Russian drones entering the Polish airspace, but they have yet to be confirmed. (BBC)

15. Trump Denies Connection to a Signature on Epstein's 2003 Birthday Gift

Amid returning controversies regarding Jeffrey Epstein , a signature in a 238-page scrapbook was uncovered. The signature was found alongside a sketch of a naked woman's silhouette. Donald Trump's name was printed above the signature which led many people to believe that it was genuine. The sketch and signature were first reported in the Wall Street Journal in July of this year. Trump has since sued the Wall Street Journal for 10 billion in damages. (ALJAZEERA)
