In an astounding 82.7 billion dollar deal, Netflix is looking to acquire Warner Bros. and its discovery studios. This deal could have drastic effects on cinema in Hollywood and streaming media. The change in ownership will be the third time that Warner Bros. has changed ownership since 2010. (NBC)

4. Ocean Spray Undergoes Investigation On Water-Filled Cranberry Sauce Cans

With the rise in cranberry sauce sales during the Thanksgiving season, several customers have noticed that their cans have been filled partially or completely with water. Several videos have circulated around social media, containing a shocking lack of quality control from the brand. Ocean Spray is currently reaching out to disappointed customers in order to take responsibility. (NBC)

5. Michael Jordan Scheduled to Testify in NASCAR Anti-Trust Trial

Michael Jordan, famed basketball player and co-founder of 23XI Racing, is set to testify against NASCAR in a federal anti-trust trial. The suit was initially filed in 2024 and is meant to prove claims that NASCAR is monopolizing the sport. The current competing teams are forced to purchase materials from a select few suppliers approved by NASCAR, which limits competition. Additionally, many teams are receiving limited revenue due to NASCAR's recent decisions. (NBC)

6. Taxi Gets Stuck on Manhole in New York City

A taxi was seen with a stuck wheel above a manhole on Friday evening. In order to free the vehicle, the area had to be shut down. No injuries or damages were reported. (NBC)

7. Sean Combs's Team Sends a Cease and Desist Letter Following the Release of 50 Cent's Diddy Documentary

Sean "Diddy" Combs's lawyers sent a cease and desist letter to Netflix before it released a documentary produced by 50 Cent. The documentary, "Sean Combs: A Reckoning" contains footage that Combs's team claimed was stolen. Combs was well known for constantly filming himself throughout his career before his prison sentence in 2024. Combs's team has not commented since. (CNN)

8. "The Devil Wears Prada 2" Teaser Trailer Released

The long-awaited sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada" is coming to theaters on May 1, 2026. On Wednesday, December 3, the teaser trailer for "The Devil Wears Prada 2" was released, features Madonna's hit song "Vogue". The original stars, Meryl Street, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, will all be returning to the big screen in the upcoming film. (CNN)

9. Marathon Organizers Arrested in Iran for Allowing Women Who Were Not Wearing Hijabs to Compete

On Friday, December 5, two marathon organizers in Iran were arrested. Five thousand participants competed in the race, with two thousand of them being women. Many women were seen without head coverings. The public is currently torn between being in support of the women going against the head covering restrictions and others believing that it is an unrightful step against the status quo. (BBC)

10. "Lizzy the Logness Monster" Swept Out to Sea

In March, 2024, a large log drifted onto a shore in Bridgend County. After several locals noticed that the wood was shaped like a lizard, it was given the nickname "Lizzy the Logness Monster", a play on the "Lochness Monster". In a recent storm, Lizzy was swept back out to where she came from, leaving many locals saddened by the news. (BBC)

11. SAU Tech Opens Emergency Medical Training Facility

SAU Tech recently opened a new emergency medical training facility. The facility is an expansion of the Arkansas Fire Training Academy and will greatly help EMT training capabilities in the area. The industry-standard equipment provided at the facility will allow students to get hands-on practice for emergency scenarios. (Banner News)

12. Local Christmas Parade Rescheduled for Monday, December 8

Due to the cold weather and rain on Thursday, December 4, the Christmas parade was rescheduled for Monday, December 8. The parade's route will remain the same, starting at the corner of Calhoun and South Washington and ending at the Reynolds Center on SAU's campus. All indoor Christmas activities were able to take place as planned on Thursday. (Banner News)

13. Fire in Indian Nightclub Kills 25 People

On December 7, a nightclub fire in the Goa region of India killed at least 25 people, many of them being tourists. The cause of the fire is believed to be a burst cylinder in the kitchen area of the club. Many people are still being treated for burns. Some attendees have burns covering over 60% of their bodies. 14. Russia Launches Another Drone Missile Strike at Ukraine Amid Ukraine's Peace Talks with the U.S.

From December 5 through December 6, Russia launched more missiles and drones toward Ukraine as the Ukrainian President met with United States officials. At least 29 locations across Ukraine were targeted, with several citizens being injured. Due to certain weapons being found in regions close to a nuclear plant, it has temporarily been cut off from power. (Associated Press)

Margaret Atwood, the author of The Handmaid's Tale, recently released a memoir titled Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts, detailing her life as an acclaimed writer and parent.
